Archive material
Our archive material contains information about the history of Südzucker AG and its predecessor companies and about the development of the beet sugar industry.
The archive material includes various documents, books of account, management reports, photographs, plans and drawings from company and works archives of sugar factories in the regions of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia.
Archived commercial documents are frequently used as a source. This is the title of the
Hauptbuch (general ledger) of Halle (Saale) sugar refinery.

Library
A research library relating to the industrial and technological history of the sugar industry is being constructed.
Its main aim is to collect sugar industry trade journals in German, historical books on the technical development of sugar processing, memorial and company commemorative publications and scientific studies of the sugar industry.
One of the main aims of the library is to collect sugar industry trade journals in German.
"Stammer's Jahresberichte für die Zuckerindustrie" (Stammer's annual reports on the sugar industry) is one of the many journals used to disseminate innovations in the sugar industry.
Title of the first issue of
Zeitschrift des Vereins für die Rübenzuckerindustrie im Zollverein (journal of the beet sugar industry association in the German Customs Union) of 1851. The oldest German trade journal in the sugar industry is currently held in the Südzucker archive.
Adolph Friedrich Riedel (1809-1872) was for many years the Chairman of the beet sugar association and joint editor of the association journal.
