1929: Formation of the "Syndikat Süddeutsche Zucker-Aktien" [South German sugar shares trust]
The "Syndikat Süddeutsche Zucker-Aktien" [South German sugar shares trust] was composed of the Italian Montesi-Group, the Flegenheimer family’s Württembergische Melassefutterwerke [Württemberg molasses feed factories] and the Deutsche Bank und Disconto-Gesellschaft.
At 82.5 percent, the Montesi-Group held the majority of shares, whereas the Deutsche Bank und Disconto-Gesellschaft operated as consortium leader.
Due to the new ratios concerning the shareholders, the administrative bodies of the Süddeutsche Zucker-Aktiengesellschaft were also partially refilled. The consortium maintained its influence on the executive board, supervisory board and the administrative council until the shares were repurchased in 1937.
